The Crime AnalySIS Toolkit provides an extension to the functionality of Map Modeller.
The components of the Crime AnalySIS Toolkit are:
Timeline allows you to play through a display of occurrences, overlaid on the required overlay, over the defined analysis period. The timeline can be played at a range of speeds to step through the occurrences at any specified increment of days or hours within the analysis period.
Aoristic Analysis analyses the probable times of occurrence of incidents where the exact time of the occurrence is not known. An occurrence probability is assigned to each hour of the day, this results in occurrences with narrower ranges of possible times getting a higher probability weight than occurrences with less definite occurrence times.
Periodic Charts enable you to create block charts of incident activity, depicting the spread of incidents over 24 hours for each day of the week, or the spread of incidents over 12 months for each day of the week.
Hotspot Maps provide a means of showing the distribution of crime or disorder as a continuous density surface. Hotspot maps are used to help direct and prioritise the focus of crime and disorder reduction resources to particular areas.
Note:Periodic Charts and Hotspot Maps are incorporated as a single component in the Crime AnalySIS toolkit as they share similar means of filtering data prior to analysis.
