GeoTIFF File Format

TIFF is a container format including images and data within a single file with header files describing the internal properties.

GeoTIFF is the TIFF image format including the Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL) - (*.tif;*.tiff).  Georeferencing information is embedded within the image file in the form of one tiepoint and pixel size, a transformation matrix, or a list of GCPs.

Note: A GeoTIFF file can be loaded into SIS as a Grid by clicking on the Configuration button in the Browse for dataset dialog when adding the dataset.
