Use Gazetteer [Home-Zoom] to display the Select a Gazetteer dialog:
Select Gazetteer Search and click OK.
If a pre-defined gazetteer definition already exists the Search dialog will be displayed, if no pre-defined gazetteer exists go to Configuring the Gazetteer Search below.
Enter the search for item in the Search ALL fields for field. Click the Clear button to remove the text from the field.
Individual fields can be searched by entering the search item in the corresponding Search For row.
The Search options drop-down field enables you to search using the following criteria:
Equals
Begins with
Ends with
Contains
The Configure button allows you to carry out the following operations:
Load definition(s) from a file
Drop file-based definitions
Create a new Gazetteer definition
Edit an existing definition
Remove a definition
These operations are described in the Configuring the Gazetteer Search section below.
The Settings button displays the Gazetteer Settings dialog:
Point shape
Select from the drop-down for point shapes to search for
Label text
Select from the drop-down for label text colour and/or pattern.
Label background
Select from the drop-down for label background colour and/or pattern.
Label box & leader
Select from the drop-down for label box and leader type.
Definition file
Click the ... button to navigate to and load a saved definition file.
Click OK to return to the Search dialog when entries have been made
The Search button commences the search
The Cancel button cancels the search.
If no pre-defined gazetteer definition exists, or the Configure button is clicked, the Welcome to Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard dialog will be displayed:
Some of the options shown in this dialog may not be available depending on whether definitions already exist.
The full range of options are described below:
The first dialog to be displayed is the Add definitions from file dialog:
Click the Browse button, navigate to the required definition file and click Open.
The following confirmation message will be displayed:
Click OK.
The Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard will close.
The first dialog to be displayed is the Search dialog:
Click Configure.
The Welcome to Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard dialog will be displayed:
The loaded file based definitions will be shown in the string below the Drop file-based definitions radio button in the Welcome to Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard dialog.
Note: All definitions in the string will be dropped.
Click Next.
The confirmation message will be shown:
Click OK.
The Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard will close.
The Select Database Type dialog will be displayed:
Select the database type and click Next.
The connection dialog appropriate to the database chosen will be displayed.
Note: If Microsoft Access is chosen the database table selected from the Gazetteer Designer dialog must not have any spaces in its name.
If Microsoft SQL Server was chosen the following connection dialog will be displayed:
Enter the Server, Authentication type, the Username and Password, and Database from the drop-down list.
Click Next.
The Select Table or View dialog will be displayed:
Select the table or view that contains the gazetteer data.
If you want to view more information check the Show Details tickbox:
Click Next.
The Select Fields dialog will be displayed:
Select the fields you wish to appear in your gazetteer.
To select all fields check the All tickbox.
The Easting and Northing fields are mandatory.
Select Post Code if available.
Click Next.
The Definition Name dialog will be displayed:
Enter a name for the definition.
If you want this entry to be the default check the Make default tickbox.
Click Save.
The Export Definitions (optional) dialog will be displayed:
Click Save As if required.
Click Finish.
The Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard will close.
The first dialog to be displayed is the Search dialog:
Click Configure.
The Welcome to Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard dialog will be displayed:
Select Edit an existing definition.
Click Next.
The Select Definition to Edit dialog will be displayed:
Select the definition.
Click Next.
The Select Fields dialog will be displayed:
Select the fields you wish to appear in your gazetteer.
To select all fields check the All tickbox.
The Easting and Northing fields are mandatory.
Select Post Code if available.
Click Next.
The Definition Name dialog will be displayed:
Enter a name for the definition.
If you want this entry to be the default check the Make default tickbox.
Click Save.
The Export Definitions (optional) dialog will be displayed:
Click Save As if required.
Click Finish.
The Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard will close.
The first dialog to be displayed is the Search dialog:
Click Configure.
The Remove Gazetteer Definition dialog will be displayed:
Select the required definition
Click Remove to remove the selection from the SIS options database.
A Confirmation message Are you sure you want to remove the selected definition will be displayed.
Click Yes to confirm, the definition will be removed.
The Cadcorp Gazetteer Definition Wizard will close.
Note: If you click Finish without clicking Remove the definition will remain.
