String Properties

Text, or a mixture of text, numbers and punctuation, is referred to as a string, and properties which hold textual values should be suffixed with a dollar ($) sign.

The value of a textual property is stored in Unicode, so you can safely use any foreign characters. However, SIS is written to be compatible with Microsoft Windows 9x, which does not completely support Unicode. This means that some foreign characters may not appear correctly on computers that do not have the correct language installed. However, the foreign characters will not be lost, and they will reappear when the data is used on a computer with the correct language.

Although the maximum length of a text property value is 64K, the user interface commands are not designed to comfortably handle values longer than about 80 characters. If you wish to use longer properties then you may consider using a Microsoft Visual Basic customisation.
