What is a Symbol?
A Symbol is simply a pre-defined image that can be included as an attribute of any Point item.
This means whenever you draw the Point item, you will see a copy of the Symbol. The Point item can optionally store information that scales and rotates the Symbol.
Symbol objects are stored in Named Object Libraries. There are always some pre-defined Symbol objects used for some datasets (e.g. OS (GB) Land-Line 1:1250, 1:2500, 1:10000 files).
TIP: SIS Desktop 9 can reuse defined symbol objects over and over again in drawings thus improving efficiency. We highly recommend defining your own Symbol objects for frequently used symbols.
