GEOnet Names Server
Uses the GEOnet Names Server (GNS) from the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA).
Click Home > Gazetteer and select GEOnet Names Server from the drop-down list.
1. Click Browse to select a GNS or a GNIS data file.
2. Search: Type a Search string and click Find.
- Specify the number of Matches to be displayed.
- Select Fuzzy Match for broadly accurate result. The number in the drop-down menu denotes the percentage of accuracy. 0.8 is chosen byd efault. 1.0 ensures extremely precise location results. Else select Regular Expression.
- If you select a radius on which the search should be centred, you can also choose the radius degree from the drop-down menu.
