Manually Adding Sentinel RMS Licence Server Entry in Windows Firewall

If the Sentinel RMS licence server is not added under the Windows Firewall exceptions, the communication between the clients requesting licences and the RMS licence server cannot take place.

The Sentinel RMS Licence Manager (licence server) installer adds this entry, by default. If you change this default addition during the installation, you need to manually allow the Sentinel RMS Licence Manager (licence server).

Note: This is the procedure to manually allow the Sentinel RMS Licence Manager for the Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System. The procedure may vary for other Operating Systems.

  1. From the Start menu go to Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Security.
  3. Click Windows Firewall.
  4. Click Allow a program through Windows Firewall to open the Allow programs to communicate through Windows Firewall screen.
  5. Click the Allow another program button.
  6. In the Add a program screen click the Add button.
  7. Browse for the licence server executable (lservnt.exe). It is installed at: <OSDrive>:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel and click Open.

You will now see the lservnt.exe listed under the Allowed programs and features in the Allow programs to communicate through Windows Firewall screen. Make sure that the tickbox to the left of the entry is left checked.
