Requirements for the Redundant Licence Server Pool

  • All licence servers in the redundant licence server pool must be the same version.
  • The licence servers must all be running on the same platforms with similar versions (e.g. Windows only or Linux only).
  • Because the leader (the first licence server added to the pool ie Server 1) must communicate with all other redundant licence servers (followers), ensure the leader is located in an area with good bandwidth.
  • Each computer on which a redundant licence server resides must have a static, fixed IP address. DO NOT use DHCP to dynamically allocate IP addresses for these computers.
  • A licence server can exist in only one licence server pool.

Setting up redundant licence servers requires access privileges to all computers and areas of the network on which licence servers will be installed.

Changes made to the redundant licence file ARE NOT automatically transferred to all licence servers in the redundant licence server pool. For this transfer, ensure you have network and write access to each of the computers.

If any of these computers run Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/7/8, ensure you have administrator privileges to make changes that affect the licence servers on those computers.
