Highways Speeds
Settings gives you extensive controls and options for your routing needs; these include setting road speeds for ITN, defining your own expression etc.
Select Applications > Routing Tools > Settings > Highways Speeds
In the above example, routing is based on a speed of 60mph for each link classed as a Motorway, 30mph for each link classified as an A Road etc.
In OS Highways data, the road links are classified in three ways with the values being held in: RoadClassification$, RouteHierarchy$ and FormOfWay$. Routing Tools support the definition of a speed-based routing expression based on any of these 3.
Sets of speeds can be saved as custom configurations.
For instance to save a set of ‘Normal’ speeds, enter them in the road speed boxes and ensure the tickbox is checked.
Now enter a name in the box next to Save, e.g. Normal, and click Save. Any number of sets (configurations) can be saved.
To load a saved configuration, select it from the drop-down box and click Recall.
You will see the speeds displayed in the road classification boxes; they will be used by subsequent routing operations if the ITN Road Speeds tab is chosen.
To edit a saved configuration, select it from the drop-down box and click Recall. Make the necessary changes, enter the same name of ‘Saved Speed Configuration’ and click Save. The new changes will simply be overwritten on the old configuration set.
To permanently delete a saved configuration display the name of the configuration in the Recall drop-down box and click Delete.
Click Highways Expression to open the expression window.
