Slaves
Cadcorp GeognoSIS allows you to create a master / slave set up which has significant performance and stability benefits.
The master has unidirectional control over the created slaves; the master simply receives the requests and passes the workload onto the slaves.
Manage your master/slave settings in the Instances > Properties > Slaves tab.
TIP: GeognoSIS can handle future requests passing them on to spare slaves. This means the master is not busy with previous requests and is free to handle new ones. Hence it is advisable to create more than one slave.
- We recommend one slave per processor core. Adding more slaves than this will have little extra benefit.
- The created slaves are processes not new instances. You can view these in the Windows Task Manager.
Field | Description |

Ensure your server has enough resources to deal with multiple slaves. (Use the Windows Task Manager as above.) Each slave appears as a process and shows the current resources consumed. Additional slaves will consume at least the same resources.
