Service Release Upgrades

Monthly preview builds are the latest versions of the software released on the 1st of every month.

Monthly Preview Builds are fully supported but untested. Using these builds is subject to your own internal testing before production use.

The latest Monthly Preview Builds are available via the Cadcorp Community https://community.cadcorp.com/

When installing a service release upgrade certain files and folders should be saved and copied or merged into the new installation.

Note: These mobile files and resource files will be automatically backed up for re-use in the updated version: Mobile/web.config, Moble/Map.aspx and App_GlobalResources/Cadcorp.Web.Resources.resx

1. Save a copy of the entire SIS Notice Board folder from the inetpub/wwwroot folder to a secure location.
2. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and note (a.) the type of Authentication being used on the application and (b.) the Application Pool Identity. You may need to reset these later.
3. Uninstall the existing version of SIS Notice Board.
4. Navigate to your product’s latest release installer for your product.
5. Right click, select Run as administrator and follow the installation procedure (see also Installing NoticeBoard)
6. Again save a copy of the entire SIS Notice Board folder from the inetpub/wwwroot folder. This serves as a backup (in case any important files are overwritten or deleted).
7. Copy (webMapLayersConfig.db from original custom site) and use it to replace the existing webMapLayersConfig.db in the AppData subfolder.

8. Open the original web.config and the new web.config and compare the documents. (We recommend opening them in Notepad++ with the Compare plugin installed.)

   TIP: You are not aiming to match these files exactly. There may be new additions and/or changes in the new web.config. Find any mismatching parameters and copy the values from the original version into the new version.

   Some parameters you may need to check include:

   Re-using your saved web.config

   To re-use your saved web.config check the following line is included in the Handlers section:

   <add name="addLegendToPDF" verb="GET" path="AddLegendToPDF.ashx" 
   type="Cadcorp.Web.UI.Controls.Print.PrintLegendHandler,Cadcorp.Web.UI" />

   If you cannot find this line in your saved web.config, then add it to the Handlers section. Replace the web.config file with your saved (possibly updated) version.

9. Repeat this process for any files which that have changed. These include:

   • Web.config
   • Map.aspx
   • Mobile/web.config
   • Mobile/Map.aspx
   • App_GlobalResources/Cadcorp.Web.Resources.resx
10. Any styling changes should be updated in the new CSS files through the same process.

    Note: If changes were made in a separate custom .css file, this file can be copied and pasted in to the new css folder and only needs to be referenced in normal.css.

11. Ensure your IIS settings are set back correctly.
12. Restart the App Pool and the GeognoSIS instance.
13. Open the map and check all functionality is as expected.
