String Properties
Text or a mixture of text, numbers and punctuation is a string.
Properties which hold textual values should be suffixed with a dollar ($) sign.
The value of a textual property is stored in Unicode so you can safely use any foreign characters. However SIS Desktop 9 is written to be compatible with Microsoft Windows 9x which does not completely support Unicode.
This means some foreign characters may not appear correctly on computers that do not have the correct language installed. The foreign characters will not be completely lost; they will simply reappear when the data is used on a computer with the correct language.
TIP: Although the maximum length of a text property value is 64K, the user interface commands are not designed to comfortably handle values longer than about 80 characters. To use more characters, consider using a Microsoft Visual Basic customisation.
