OGC Web Map Tile Service (WMTS)

 

Acts as an OGC Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) client, downloading raster images over the Internet from an OGC Web Map Tile Service (WMTS).

Click Add Overlay > OGC > OGC Web Map Tile Service (WMTS).

You can either

  • Select from previously saved connections (or)
  • Other well-known servers (or)
  • Type in the server address if you know it.

Description

URL

Type in the address of the server if you know it. The URL can also be copied in from the GeognoSIS WMTS Capabilities Document

User/Password

Enter the credentials to specify any account details.

Protocol

KVP: Key value pair encoding.

REST: RESTful encoding

Save connection in UI settings database (encrypted)

Should SIS Desktop store the connection in the UI settings database? The password will be stored in encrypted form for security.

Validate 'Capabilities' XML from server: The WMTS capabilities document tells clients exactly which layers, styles, extents, image formats, etc. a server supports. Enable this option to validate the XML returned by the server in this document.

Capabilities: Displays the XML capabilities document for the OGC WMTS.

TIP: Connect using SAML 2.0 ECP Profile: SAML stands for SecurityAssertion Markup Language (SAML) version 2.0. Check this tickbox to make connection using the OASIS SAML. See http://docs.oasis-open.org/security/saml/v2.0/ for details of (SAML) version 2.0 Profiles.

1. If you select Connect using SAML 2.0 ECP Profile, ensure you enter details about the Shibboleth Federation Metadata.

Click Next.

2. If connecting WITHOUT the SAML 2.0 ECP Profile , you will see this OGC (WMTS) dialog.

Option Description

Server Details Title

This is a descriptive title returned by the OGC WMTS.

Capabilities

Displays the capabilities for the OGC WMTS in the resizable HTML/XML Viewer dialog.

Available Layers

Shows the available layers in the OGC WMTS.

Abstract and Legend

Displays extra textual information about the selected OGC WMTS layer, if available. A legend will be displayed in the right-hand pane if available.

Tile Image Format

Selects the format of the images to be downloaded.

Tile Matrix/Layout

Choose the required scale set from the drop down box.

Click Finish.
