FindIT Add-In
FindIT is a licensed extension to SIS WebMap. It provides a simple way to query a large number of data layers by user-defined area.
If you have access to FindIT, you will see the add-in on your main drop-down screen.
Select FindIT from the What would you like to do? drop-down menu to open the various search options available in this add-in.
Select your desired method of defining the search area.
Use the Freehand option to define a search area by drawing on the screen.
- Click Draw Feature option to select it.
- Click once on the map and drag to start drawing.
- Click at each vertex of the shape and double-click to finish.
- Press Search to start querying the layers.
Click Enable snapping if you’d like your drawn shape to snap to feature vertices.
To clear any drawn shapes, click the Delete button.
Use the Feature selection option to define a search area by selecting already available hittable features.
- Click the Select Feature option.
- Click on the desired feature on the map.
- The feature and its attributes are displayed along with the layer on which it is available.
- Select the required feature and click Search.
Note: MasterMap features cannot be selected in this option.
Use the MasterMap option to define a search area by selecting any available MasterMap polygon.
- Click the Select MasterMap option.
- Next select a MasterMap polygon by clicking on it.
- The feature and its attributes are displayed along with the layer on which it is available. .
- Click Search to run the query.
- Click on a polygon again to deselect it.
Multiple selected features will be automatically merged as the user presses Search.
Use the Point with Buffer option to define a search area by selecting any point on the map.
- Select the Point with Buffer option.
- If required, specify a buffer distance around the point to be included in the search. By default the buffer is set to 25m.
- Click a point on the map to be searched.
- Click Search to run the query.
Note: Double-click to finish drawing lines and polygons. Only one item can be selected at a time; click Select again to choose other items.
The results of your search are seen in the left-hand pane.
FindIT highlights the selected feature from the results dialog, zooming to and selecting the feature. You also have the option of switching the original search feature on and off.
Different FindIT queries can now be run on individual maps. Multiple selected features will be automatically merged when you press Search.
If you experience issues when using FindIT, try reducing the search area. FindIT is not intended for searching large regions. It is ideal when used on a single road/village scale rather than a country/ward/town scale.
