What is a Symbol?
A Symbol is simply a pre-defined image that can be included as an attribute of any Point item.
This means whenever you draw the Point item, you will see a copy of the Symbol. The Point item can optionally store information that scales and rotates the Symbol.
Symbol objects are stored in Named Object Libraries. There are always some pre-defined Symbol objects used for some datasets (e.g. OS (GB) Land-Line 1:1250, 1:2500, 1:10000 files).
SIS Desktop 9.1 can reuse defined symbol objects over and over again in drawings thus improving efficiency. We highly recommend defining your own Symbol objects for frequently used symbols.
