Bezier

Bezier constructs a smooth LineString item from a Bezier curve.

A Bezier curve is a smooth curve whose slope varies along its length according to the position of control points.

Bezier curves are often used by engineers and graphic designers for accurately reproducing the curve in software systems.

Note: The Bezier command is not available in Map Manager or Map Express.

  1. Select Bezier.
  2. Click a position for the start of the Bezier. One end of the curve is then anchored at that point.
  3. Click a position for the end of the Bezier. The opposite end of the curve is then anchored at that point. As you move the cursor now, you will now see the curve being dragged into different shapes.

Remember the tangent at the start and end of the of the Bezier are defined by two more control points.

  1. Click a position for the first control point.
  2. Click a position for the second control point.

When a Bezier curve is selected, round grab handles are displayed at the ends and at the control points. Click and drag these handles to modify the shape of the Bezier.

The active "handle" turns solid black while the Bezier curve modification is in progress.
