Cadcorp Base Dataset (*.bds)
Cadcorp Base Dataset (*.bds) is a file type used to provide a permanent and separate storage facility for your own graphic information.
You usually select one of three available file types when working with overlays. See also Create New File.
- The .bds format supports complex vector, topological geometry and raster images.
- The BDS file can be edited by the owner. When you create a BDS file or are the first user to open an existing one, you will be automatically granted ownership.
- A saved BDS file can be shared over a network and can be viewed by other users (with appropriate access rights).
To waive ownership, uncheck the Locked tickbox on the Dataset tab of the Overlays dialog.
Alternatively checking this tickbox makes you the file owner (providing no-one else owns it at the time).
A BDS file owner can:
- Change the Coordinate System Projection
- Add a Feature Table
- Change the Scale
- Add New Attributes
If this option is chosen the File Browser dialog is displayed. Navigate to the required location, enter the file name in the File Name box and click Finish.
