File-based database

Location: Overlay Types dialog > Databases tab > Cadcorp View Points > File-based database

Opens a File Browser dialog to enable you to browse for a database file. Cadcorp SIS Desktop 9.1 reads one of the supported database formats directly from a file, e.g. Microsoft Access .mdb/.accdb, or SQLite .db/.sqlite.

Note: Cadcorp SIS Desktop 9.1 (64-bit) will use ADO (via the Microsoft Access Database Engine) to read Microsoft Excel *.xlsx files, Cadcorp SIS Desktop 9.1 (32-bit) uses DAO to read spread sheets. Cadcorp SIS Desktop 9.1 (64-bit) can only read .xlsx files and not .xls spread sheets.

Note: If Angular units are selected in the XY Units section of the View Points - Select which columns contain the relevant information... dialog, for example:

The value in the drop down tells SIS the format to expect from the datasource. SIS will then convert and display the points in degrees. When selecting DMS be aware that SIS uses a coma as a separator within its coordinates i.e. x,y,z. If your datasource format is DD,MM,SS.S only the DD part will be used, therefore you need to replace the coma with another character such as double-quotes (any character except a coma) to get DMS.
