Supported Database Versions

Cadcorp SIS Desktop and GeognoSIS do not require a database but many customers use a spatial database to:

  • Centralise their data holdings
  • Provide the means to store and access large datasets, such as OS MasterMap
  • Use the database for spatial queries and analysis (Desktop and GeognoSIS will automatically pass queries to the database where appropriate)
  • Provide concurrent multi-user editing

Oracle

  • Oracle 11.2.0.1
  • Oracle 12.2.0.1 (Oracle 12c is slower than Oracle 11g to open an SWD; this is a known performance issue)

  • Oracle 19.3.0.0.0
  • Oracle 21.3.0.0.0

Note: SIS Desktop and GeognoSIS include the Oracle Instant Client; the client need not be installed separately. The Oracle Spatial extension is not required for most users.
