DirectionsDirections is an enhanced version of measure which can be used to produce directions from a Start point to a Finish point using the shortest distance, ITN Road Speed expression or your own defined expression.
Select Directions.
The Route Directions dialog will be displayed:
Select the required Measurement Option. These options are described in the Measurement Options topic.
ITN Road Speed expression is selected in this example.
Click OK.
Select the Start and End points on the map.
The route will be created and shown as a new overlay called Route:
The associated Route Directions dialog will be shown:
Either click Close to close the dialog or click the Create Print button to create a plot as a separate SWD:
The Create Print option uses a print template called A4 RouteMap. If this template is not already loaded then the first use of Route Direction will load the default from a NOL in its program files. The template is shown in use above.
The default print template is defined in the Directions tab of the Routing tools settings dialog. See Settings.
To customise Route Directions this template should be recalled, customised and stored in your own library.
Note: Directions uses the property NatureOfRoad$ to correctly handle directions at roundabouts.
One option of the ITN Manager is to remove extraneous attributes. When using this you should make sure that the ITN Manager has not been configured to remove this attribute! If it has, then amend the file AttributesToRemove.txt and reload the data.
