Windows Bitmap (*.bmp)

Widely used raster file. It can be compressed using Run-Length Encoding (RLE) which is a lossless compression method or alternatively can be without compression. It has a colour depth of up to 32 bits. All Bitmap versions were designed for computers containing Intel processors. The main advantages are usability and wide spread software support.
