OGC Geography Markup Language (*.gml;*.gz;*.xml)
Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Geography Markup Language (GML) was developed to provide a means for neutral data storage and transfer of geospatial data and attributes, including both the spatial and non-spatial properties of geographic features.
It is widely used by national mapping agencies and other large data providers such as the Ordnance Survey.
This specification defines the XML Schema syntax, mechanisms and conventions that:
- Provide an open, vendor-neutral framework for the definition of geospatial application schemas and objects;
- Allow profiles that support proper subsets of GML framework descriptive capabilities;
- Support the description of geospatial application schemas for specialized domains and information communities;
- Enable the creation and maintenance of linked geographic application schemas and datasets;
- Support the storage and transport of application schemas and data sets;
- Increase the ability of organizations to share geographic application schemas and the information they describe.
This is a memory-based dataset.
The metadata required to load various versions of the AAA-NAS GML file format is defined in the Gml.ini file, normally located in the C:\Program Files\Cadcorp SIS Desktop 9\Plugins folder.
