USGS Optional ASCII DEM (*.dem)

This is the original United States Geological Survey DEM format. Currently only 1 degree/250,000 scale products are left being supplied in this format.  This is an ASCII based raster format containing elevation data. 

The expected extension is *.DEM. 

This is a memory-based dataset.
