Align to Geometry

Applicability:

Ribbon Group:

CAD-Alter

Associated commands:

Description:

Align to Geometry squares up geometrical segments that are close to, but do not quite, form right angles with one another. You might use this to square up a building outline which has not been accurately digitised.

First select the item(s), then select this command. All segments which diverge by about 14 degrees or less are rotated so that they form right angles with one another (any segments which diverge by more than this are left alone). The segments are rotated about their midpoint in order to align them.

This command lets you quickly align lots of items, but it is generally not as controllable as Align to Axes. For example, you should not use this command if you have a row of digitised houses that were built to a common layout line, since this command will align each house within itself.
