Exports an AutoCAD DXF file.
The DXF (Data Exchange Format) is specified by AutoDesk and has become the de facto format for the transfer of design and drafting data (CAD) between AutoCAD and other (primarily CAD) systems.
DXF files can be ASCII or Binary. The default is ASCII, which means that file sizes can be large.
When exporting an AutoCAD DXF file the following AutoCAD Export Information dialog will be displayed:
Complete the Export Attributes, AutoCAD Layers and Export Version details as required.
Export Attributes
As AutoCAD attributes
This option stores overlay data by utilising attributes. This option will export Extended Data as attributes and can result in large files sizes.
As Extended Data (XData)
This option enables information to be attached to each and every entity in the export overlay. This information is maintained as separate from other data.
Note: When exporting Polygon items to AutoCad DWG or DXF files the Brush transparency setting in the Styles tab of the Overlays dialog, or the Style tab of the Properties of Polygon dialog, determines whether Polygons are exported as Polygons or LineString items.
See the Transparency topic for details.
