Adding new Metadata records

Once your metadata repository is established, there will be occasions when you need to add new metadata records.  This may be because:

• You are starting to work with a new data source, such as an additional database and have a number of new metadata records to add based on database tables.
  

To add metadata records for a new database, you can perform a harvest from the new database.  As long as the database has not been harvested before, new metadata records will be created alongside any existing entries.

• You have created a new dataset for publication.

You can create new metadata records for additional database tables of geographic data by using the Create command.

• You have purchased or have been provided with new data that has no existing metadata.
  

You can create new metadata records for new database tables of geographic data by using the Create command.

• You have purchased or have been provided with new data that has an accompanying Gemini metadata.
  

You should load the new geographic data into the database of your choice and then use the Import option from the right mouse button on the overlay.  You will be prompted for the required Gemini file and the password for the database.

You can use the Metadata Manager to add all of these metadata records.
