Overlay position

Most overlay types know where in the world their graphics are placed. For example Cadcorp Base Dataset and OS (GB) Land-Line 1:1250, 1:2500, 1:10000 data know what their global position is without having to be specified.

However some overlay types like Raster file and DXF datasets do not have any intrinsic global position. In this case, the overlay remembers the mathematical transformation required for positioning it with respect to other datasets.

For instance you may load a DXF dataset of a building and find that it is in the wrong position with respect to your background OS (GB) Land-Line 1:1250, 1:2500, 1:10000 mapping. You could then select an item from the DXF dataset and use Move Dataset (Edit >Geometry >Arrange >Dataset).

Once you have moved and/or resized the DXF dataset, its new position is remembered by the Overlay object in the SWD.

Add Overlay (Home > Map) displays the Overlay Types dialog to allow you to add an overlay to the SWD. The Maps Control Bar and Overlays are used to control all overlay settings.

You can have as many overlays in an SWD as you wish.
