Description:

Block creates a "Block" from the currently selected items. A Block is a collection of items which may be manipulated as though it were a single item.

Select the graphics which are to be collected as a Block, and choose this command.

You must snap or type a coordinate which is to be used as the origin for the Block. Generally a position on the items themselves will be most appropriate.

The Block name dialog will be displayed:

The system offers the name "(anonymous)". If you do not give the Block a name, but retain "(anonymous)", the Block cannot be recalled by name for future use, but can be copied or moved. More normally you will want to give the Block a name, which may include punctuation and spaces:

Blocks are stored in the current Named Object Library:

When a Block is inserted into a dataset, SIS creates an Insert item, and copies the block definition from the Named Object Library into the dataset. This means that Block names must be unique within that dataset.

To recall a Block by name and place it on screen, use Insert [CAD-Blocks & Inserts].

See Blocks.
