Description:

Freehand draws freehand LineString and Point items, which follow the movement of the mouse.

The resulting Freehand LineString item is made up of very tiny segments. Slow movements of the mouse when creating the Freehand LineString item will result in many vertices being placed, the LineString item segments being shorter, and therefore the LineString item appearing to be smoother. Fast movements will result in fewer vertices, and less smooth outlines.

Point items can be created with this command by clicking and immediately releasing the mouse button.

Freehand LineString items created using this command may be modified by deleting or dragging with the cursor or using Move [Edit-Alter].

Holding the Ctrl key down while clicking on a LineString item segment will insert a new vertex (and grab handle).

Example:

  1. Select Freehand.

  2. Place the cursor at the position where you want the Freehand LineString item to start.

  3. Hold the left-hand mouse button down while dragging the cursor along the path you want. A LineString item will be constructed which follows the path of the cursor.

  4. Release the mouse button to end the Freehand LineString item.
