Backdrop

Location: Overlay Types dialogMiscellaneous > Backdrop

Backdrop provides a raster outline of the UK, Ireland and the world in different projections. Backdrops are used for reference and are a basic source of outline data.

A backdrop item is copied from a Named Object Library (NOL) into a new Internal Dataset. A backdrop is often useful as the initial overlay in a SIS Workspace Definition (SWD) because it sets the correct Coordinate Reference System. Other overlays may then be drawn against this initial backdrop.

See Loading maps (and other data files) for details of creating a Backdrop.
