Ordnance Survey GB overlays (GB specific)

SIS Desktop has a wide range of options to load Ordnance Survey GB data directly without the need for conversion.

Select Home > Add Overlay and select the Ordnance Survey (GB) tab.

Ordnance Survey data can be loaded to read and display native OS MasterMap data, on-the-fly as ‘flat files’, i.e. attribute data is stored separately from the geographic data, in the following ways:

  • as a non-editable overlay (File option or Ordnance Survey CD-ROM option if loading direct from a CD-ROM)
  • using an index dataset
  • as individual tiles, using the Imported File option to make an editable copy of the data
  • load into SIS by dragging and dropping the file in the Map Window.

The following OS Managers allow data supplied directly from Ordnance Survey to be loaded into SIS Desktop without translation; it can also handle COU updates.

These datasets must be loaded using the appropriate Manager and then read using the specific layer types. These datasets are not editable and only show tables which match the schema created by using the OS MasterMap Manager.
