Description:

Map Frame constructs a Map Frame item of another window. A Map Frame item is an image of one window placed in another window, and is used when you print using a Print Template. Any changes to the data in the original window will be reflected in the Map Frame contents.

Make the destination window current (where the Map Frame item will be created) before selecting the command. You are first prompted to snap anywhere in another window (the source window). Return the cursor to the destination window, and you will see a rectangle locked to the cursor. Place this using a screen snap or typed coordinate. The Map Frame item will be filled with an image of the source window.

A "No Entry" symbol indicates that you cannot construct a Map Frame item containing an image of the window in which the Map Frame item is to be placed.

The graphical image in a Map Frame item is not editable.

Map Frame item extents may be modified on the screen by selecting the rectangular border and dragging the grab handles displayed.

Map Frame items may be moved by dragging with the cursor.

A Map Frame taken from a window whose view scale is 1:1250 will have a scale of 1:1250. If the original window displayed had an area of 500 metres square, the Map Frame item will be 400 millimetres square. Changing the scale of a Map Frame item using Properties [Home-Selection] will retain the 400mm square, and increase or decrease the area of map displayed.

Map Frame items may be treated in the same way as Polygon items to produce multi-loop Map Frame items, Map Frame items with holes, and Map Frame items with irregular boundaries.

See Map Frame Items.
